With the help of City Gospel Mission, CCU comes alongside under-resourced and first-generation college students who are the proud recipients of the Urban Scholars Grant. Before their first semester of college, grant recipients attend a 6-week college prep course offered by City Gospel Mission that covers such topics as campus life, college writing, study skills, leadership, intercultural communication, and time management. Each student is paired with a mentor whom they meet with regularly to ensure a successful transition to college life.

This program is designed to assist students in their academic, spiritual and personal growth. The goal with this program is to help students navigate through the process of applying to, succeeding in, and graduating from college. While in the Urban Scholars program, students have a circle of support and a plan of action to keep them progressing in a positive direction. Along with the college prep program and assigned mentors, our Urban Scholars are also offered extensive tutoring at the Evan Bolejack Learning Center, so they have the best tools for success.
